Historic North Yarmouth Renovation
This residence is one of the oldest homes in North Yarmouth. Being old, ceilings sometimes start to sag and plaster chips off. Once the roof and moisture issues were solved, renovating the rooms began. New drywall was added over the old uneven surfaces. It was skim-coated and tested with a spot light held at a low angle to the ceiling plane. This final inspection technique revealed any imperfections in the plaster work to be corrected. Being that the window locations allowed for rising and setting sun angles to reveal the ceiling surface, this inspection technique was definitely important.
