Biggest Bungalow Attic Shower Ever

Putting a 4′ x 6′ shower in the attic of a Bungalow is not an ordinary request. Typically our showers follow the average size of a shower pan which is 30″to 36″ x 6′ which is just enough space for one person; not three. We like accepting creative and fun challenges. Old houses are full of them to begin with so why not.

First the entire attic had to be demolished including removing a chimney (which then allowed a plumbing and electrical chase). To handle the demo we enlisted the expertise of Corey Davis from New County Contracting (2o7-71o-15o6). He effortlessly cleared the chimney and most of the interior walls and ceiling.

Next we worked with the family to execute their layout and refine the design. This was actually a process that continued through out the entire phase of construction. Each stage was a spring-board to inspire new refinements; ideas like adding a transom over the doors to spread the light or remove an annoying load bearing wall by having the area re-engineered; this idea opened up a better bed position.

Eventually we ended up with a finished space that no one would have expected to exist in a moderate sized bungalow. Almost every square inch of this space was utilized right down to the narrowest reaches of the eaves (for huge storage potential).

The shower was the Jade colored jewel of the project in its supportive setting.
